It strikes me that Twitter are missing a trick by failing to make it super-easy for small businesses to promote tweets.
By contrast, Facebook (and Instagram) present users with a big blue button marked ‘Boost’ / ‘Promote’ on every post. No fuss. Even if micro-businesses are spending just £15 here and £30 there, it all adds up – especially when you’ve got hundreds of thousands of them.
Yes, Twitter have launched their Promote Mode tool (which automatically promotes your tweets for a flat monthly fee) but it gives you almost no control over what’s tweeted.
Perhaps another item for the updates to Twitter’s to-do list (right after “make tweets editable”).
