Case Study | Racecourse Media Group + Racing TV

Helping Racecourse Media Group maximise the opportunities of digital innovation.

Racecourse Media Group Ltd (RMG) is responsible for a range of media rights management businesses and is the parent company of Racing TV, its principal customer-facing brand. Racing TV is best-known for its leading subscription television services and wealth of supporting racing news and information.

Keen to capitalise on the accelerated transition of users to digital channels in recent years, RMG commissioned slp consulting to lead a team of expert consultants to review its broad footprint of digital activity. The audit included organisational structure, resourcing, reporting, data management, all customer-facing digital touchpoints, innovation opportunities and considerations for further commercialisation of digital assets.

The consulting team (consisting of Mackenzie Media, Fringe Media, Alex Trickett and Drew Barrand) ran a deep-dive audit into RMG’s processes and supporting technologies alongside an analysis of the wider market landscape, competitor behaviour and how best-in-class sport/broadcast organisations are using digital.

Through a combination of in-depth interviews, desk research, technical auditing and collaborative review sessions, the team delivered a detailed audit and recommendations report, with the headlines presented to senior RMG stakeholders in a half-day session.

The report identified key areas of short-term opportunity and longer term strategic business opportunities to help RMG capitalise on its unique position in the industry.
